The all-new G-Class has been revealed, and whilst it retains everything that makes it such a classic off-road wagon in the first place, it is fit with even more features to further improve it’s capabilities.
Lighter, longer and wider, the new G-Class will come with an independent front suspension, new interior, ladder-frame chassis, three 100 percent locking differentials and low-range gear ratios, making it even more comfortable in rigorous off-road situations.
The G-Class has been undergoing extensive testing in preparation for the reveal, ensuring it is still setting the bar. Repeated laps of Austria’s Schöckl Mountain have been the core of it’s testing program, constantly perfecting every feature.
The new G-Class also gets the appropriately named 'G-Mode,' which engages when any of the three locking differentials is engaged or when low range is selected. Mercedes-Benz has stated that 'G-Mode' will adjust damping, steering, throttle and transmission to best suit the terrain and varying circumstances.
The new G-Class is due to be launched in Australia in the third quarter of 2018, with the AMG variant leading the release.
